Learn the safe and effective steps to clean your Strate removable handle cookware, including dishwasher tips and handle care.
Quick answer
To safely clean your Strate removable handle cookware, remove the handle before washing, hand wash the pan with mild detergent, and clean the handle separately with a damp cloth.
Why removing the handle matters
The Strate removable handle is designed for convenience, but washing it while attached can trap moisture in the locking mechanism. Over time, this may affect the handle's grip and release function. Removing it before cleaning keeps both the pan and handle in good working order.
Dishwasher vs. hand washing
While the stainless steel pan body is generally dishwasher safe, hand washing is gentler and helps maintain the exterior finish. The removable handle itself should never go in the dishwasher — the heat and detergent can damage the ergonomic grip and internal parts. A quick hand wash or wipe-down is all the handle needs.
Step-by-step cleaning guide
- Remove the handle: Press the release button and slide the handle off the pan. Set it aside on a dry surface. Do not force the handle if it sticks — check that the release button is fully pressed.
- Wash the pan: Hand wash the pan with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive scrubbers or steel wool — they can scratch the stainless steel surface.
- Clean the handle separately: Wipe the handle with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed. Dry it completely before reattaching. Never submerge the handle in water or put it in the dishwasher — moisture inside can damage the mechanism.
- Reattach and store: Once both parts are dry, slide the handle back onto the pan until it clicks securely. Store the cookware with the handle detached to save space and prevent accidental bumps. Store the handle in a dry drawer or on a hook — avoid leaving it attached inside stacked pans.
